Roses? For Me? You're Too Kind!

Despite my love for nail art, especially very basic dotted floral nail art, I have never given rose nail art a shot. Today was my day.

I'm not sure that I succeeded... but it's a decent first attempt. Also-- I am trying to figure out which photo presentation of my nails works better. Do you like photo 1 or photo 2? Most of my photos are done with photo 1's style... but I recently received a suggestion that photo 2's style looked better. What do you think?

For this look I used:
  • 1 coat of CND Stickey base coat
  • 2 coats of Island Girl Waikiki Sunset polish
  • Acrylic craft paint and a dotting tool for the roses
  • 1 coat of Looks Wet top coat
I'm not usually such a big fan of hexagonal glitter polishes, especially by themselves, but this one is pretty nice. I usually like to layer a color like this over a light blue or black. Hexagonal glitters just usually drive me crazy because I'm obsessed with having polish neat and precise... and you can never really control where the little glitters go... but this one is pretty fun. I actually picked up this polish while I was in Kauai this past June. I'm not sure where to get it on the mainland... but it's super fun and goes on with a nice thin application. Two thumbs up to Island Girl!

September Sparkle

I went for something really simple and dainty this week. I love the length of my nails right now, and wanted a polish that wouldn't cover up my little white tips. China Glaze Fairy Dust did the trick!! Now if only if could make me fly...

For this look I used:
  • 1 coat of CND Stickey base coat
  • Acrylic craft paint and a dotting tool for the flowers
  • 2 coats of China Glaze Fairy Dust
  • 2 coats of CND Super Shiney top coat
UGH- The only thing I don't like about Fairy Dust is how quickly it chips... why does it do that? This mani only lasted 2 days :(

All Hail Andy

My birthday was 2 weeks ago, and my younger (not by much) sister's birthday was this last weekend. Due to the holiday weekend, I decided to go to Seattle for a celebratory trip. I got to see all my extended family, and did some shopping with my newly-engaged sister and mom. Also-- she bought a wedding dress for her anticipated wedding next August... how exciting!

Anyway, when I arrived in Seattle my sister had a fabulous birthday gift waiting for me. But the surprise was that her fiancè had also gotten me not one-- but three gifts! He picked me out a beautiful pair of hand-cut silver earrings, a cute book, and 2 butter LONDON nail polishes. I don't even own any butter LONDON! What a gem, right? My sister is super lucky... and I can't wait to welcome this future brother into our family. So without any further adieu, Andy... thank you for this nail polish and inspiring this week's look!

  • 1 coat of CND Stickey base coat
  • 2 coats of butter LONDON All Hail The Queen
  • Flower nail art painted with black, purple (you can't see it) and white craft paint and a dotting tool
  • 2 coats of CND Super Shiney top coat
P.S. I'm usually not a fan of neutral polishes... but this one just rocks my socks. It's very chic and sophisticated, if you're going for a downplayed look. I love it!!

Siiimple

So I'll let you in on a few secrets about these nails today.
  1. I peeled all my nails off so now they're short. Sad.
  2. These were not the nails I had planned. I was waiting to paint a teacher's nails (so I had pretty subdued colors with me) and I had extra time so I threw this together.
There. That's it. This look includes:
  • 2 coats of China Glaze White Cap
  • Flowers and dots made with China Glaze Bahamian Escape, OPI Ate Berries in the Canaries, China Glaze White on White and China Glaze Gamer Glam
  • 2 coats of Sally Hansen Insta-Dri Top Coat
