I Love Cowboys, Too!

So we all know that Suzi loves cowboys... But since I live in Idaho, there sure are a heck-of-a lot of them around here. And let me tell you... a man with a tight butt in Wranglers, them cowboy boots and a big 'ol Stetson... there just ain't nothin' sexier! Well... almost :)

This week's nails are super simple. I began with a base of CND Stickey base coat, followed by 3 coats of OPI Suzi Loves Cowboys. I was pretty upset that SLC wasn't more opaque and that I had to use 3 coats to get full coverage. I expected it to give just a little more color. However, I do love that it is a true brown and the 3 coats were very thin when applied. I polished 2 coats of OPI Sparkleicious over the brown on the accent fingers. I finished with one coat of CND Super Shiney top coat. It's super simple... but a stunna' for sure. And I like that it's a funky chocolate brown in the middle of summer. It's fun to switch things up, right?

Now giddy yourselves up and go cow tipping or ride your tractor ... or something else a cowboy lovin' lady would do!! :)

Twas The Afternoon Before The Weekend

Twas the afternoon before the weekend, when all through work
Not a creature was stirring, not even the office jerk.
The mailings were stacked in the outbox with care,
In hopes that the weekend soon would be there.

The workers were pent up awaiting the chime,
That signaled their 5 o'clock closing time.
And my boss in his suit, and me in my dress,
Had just about had it with the work-week stress.

When the clock struck 5 there arose such a clatter,
I needn't look around, I knew what was the matter.
Away through the halls I flew like a flash,
Tore open the door and made quite a dash.

The sun creating a mid-summer's haze
Did nothing to obscure my margarita-minded daze.
When, what to my surprised eyes should appear,
But a text from my nail lady, and an appointment time near.

In a little salon, on the corner and easy to see,
From the window I saw waving, my friend, Lyndsey.
Designer nails her craft, her talent not lame,
And she whistled, and shouted, and called the options by name!

I've got Acrylic! And Gel Axxium! And Rhinestones! They're the craze!
And Polish! And Glitter! And the new China Glaze!
From the brightest of flowers! To the most delicate heart!
I'll do it! I'll paint it! I'll give you nail art!

As butterflies and polka dots swirled through my head,
I knew this decision was one I would dread.
So Lyndsey suggested a design she knew,
And insisted not only on my toes, but my nails, too.

And then with a scraping, I heard from below
The filing and shaping of each little toe.
As I sat in the chair, it was massaging every knot,
Out Lyndsey pulled her little acrylic-filled pot.

It was brimming with powder, sparkling and bright,
The holographic orange glitter I knew would be just right.
The jar of monomer she brought out and sat down,
It smelled uncommonly pleasant, as it wafted around.

The glitter how it twinkled! The color so dandy!
It only seemed appropriate, it was named Cotton Candy!
Lyndsey used her little brush like an artist with paint,
Creating perfect nails so square, tiny and quaint.

Then a little purple flower she held out for me,
On my fingers she placed one, on my toes, three.
They had yellow middles and a texture of foil,
That shined under the sun, like a pretty spill of oil!

Lyndsey was quick and fast, a right awesome nail artist,
And I envied her talent, for those skills I wished!
A wink of her eye and a swish with her brush,
Soon gave me to know she wouldn't dare rush.

She spoke not a word, but went straight to her work,
And shaped all the nails, then turned with a jerk.
And switching on the UV light, my nails she did expose,
And after they cured, out of my chair I rose!

I sprang toward the door, to my friend gave a whistle,
And away I zoomed like the down of a thistle.
But I heard her exclaim, 'ere I left the room,
"Happy NAILS to all, and to all a good-afternoon!"

Happy 4th of July!

I'm back!! I have so many exciting honeymoon pictures to post... but today is all about the FREEDOM and the U.S. of A!!

To be quite honest, I haven't painted my nails in over a month! EEK!! I'm slacking so badly right now. It's almost time to cancel Christmas it's so bad. Anyway... I'm sick of being a "No Naked Nails" hypocrite... so here are my festive polishings for the week.

I began by painting my nails with CND Stickey base coat, followed by OPI Color So Hot It Berns on all fingers but the accent. I painted Essie Mezmerize on the accent nail.

I chose to do these colors as the base, because the glittery colors I picked to go on top tend to be a bit too dark when they're applied alone... so I wanted to brighten them up a bit. Over top of the OPI, I painted China Glaze Ruby Pumps. On top of Essie I applied China Glaze Dorothy Who? Then I added a couple star decals to the accent nails and painted some white stripes onto my thumbs with white acrylic craft paint. I finished with a coat of CND Super Shiney top coat and OPI RapiDry top coat.

It's rather simple, but it definitely gets the message across. AMERICA, WE LOVE YOU :)
