Last week's flakie design was rather... well... flaky. It didn't last too long, and I wasn't really in the mood to re-do my nails, so I played the role of copycat again. Once more, I borrowed from Chloe's Nails and did a Shredded Mani. I wanted to think of a cool new name for it... but she's just so great and hit it right on the nose with "shredded."
But first, I just have to show you the beautiful color that was my base... China Glaze Secret Peri-wink-le:
I just love it so much. It's a beautiful purple-y gray cream and it applies really well. I had to show the picture of the polish by itself because it always looks different in natural vs. indoor light. And now, here's a look at the purple combo Shredded Mani:
Isn't that crazy how Secret Peri-wink-le looks so much more vibrant here? I started with 2 coats of Secret Peri-wink-le as my base. Second, I added a coat of Seche Vite over top. I then cut up 10 little strips of Scotch Tape in a little zig-zag pattern. When my nails were dry, I laid the zig-zagged tape down on the inside portion of the nail so I could paint on the outside half. I then applied 2 quick coats of China Glaze's Tempest right over the tape. I immediately removed the tape and the shredded design was there and rockin'. I continued to do that to each nail (2 at a time) and followed with 2 coats of Seche Vite. If that was confusing at all, which it probably was, check out the Chloe's Nails picture tutorial here. It makes it a LOT easier to understand.
My Hunk says this is his favorite design yet. He says it won't be long until I'm like Erika from Chloe's and doing my nails more than once a day and wanting a huge book case put into our living room to hold all my nail polish. Hehe... that would be awesome.
