Flakie Copycat

Last night I decided I needed to redo my nails (since my others had lasted a full week), but I didn't want it to take forever. So I was a HUGE copycat and borrowed from Enamel Girl and Chloe's Nails (thank you girls for your inspiration) to create a fun flakie look with a neon accent nail.

I wish I could've gotten the flakie to show up better with my iPhone. But I had no such luck. Anyway, I began with China Glaze's Liquid Leather on all fingers but my ring finger. After 2 coats of Liquid Leather, I layered 3 coats of Sinful Color's Green Ocean on top to give it that cool sparkly look. I really wish you could see how awesome it looks in real life.

For the ring finger, I applied one coat of China Glaze's White on White as a base. Then I added 2 thin coats of China Glaze's In the Lime Light followed by a quick coat of Seche Vite. I borrowed Erika's (author of Chloe's Nails) method of a "Scotch Tape Mani" and taped off sections of my nail. I painted over that with the Liquid Leather. I immediately pulled the tape off and voila- green stripes (though not as cool as hers)! I added a coat of Green Ocean over the top to keep it consistent and finished the whole thing with 2 coats of Seche Vite.

Sorry for my laziness and unoriginality this week. I'm not so great at the Scotch Tape mani's, so I think I'll stick to more freehand work... but I just LOVE the flakie look... it's so fun and spunky!

By the way... help a sister out... is it flakie or flaky when referring to nail polish??
