My First Attempt at Nail Water Marbling

Lately, all I've been doing is reading The Daily Nail archives. She is so so so talented! One design she likes doing a lot is the "marble" look. I've seen lots of people try this... but I've always been too much of a scaredy-cat to give it a shot. It looked too hard for me... But today... I tried it. And did not succeed. I plan on re-doing it tomorrow.

I experimented with a couple different colors, and here it is, my first water marbling attempt:

YIKES. The pinkie was my first attempt. Since these were my first couple fingers and the first few colors I had picked, I learned the hard way that "quick-dry" colors don't work. Obviously.

Here's a look at the right hand. I'm getting a little bit better now. And again, there's a lot of different color schemes. So, here's the right hand marble nail polish:

Not so bad... but still needs work. I've picked out my 3 favorite colors and I plan on presenting a new look tomorrow. Wish me luck. It better be more professional than this one. Marbling is NOT easy (well, yes it is... but it's not easy to make it pretty).

  1. How do you do the really cool swirls in the above pictures? I dont understand if it is like making a cloud all the way around the color itself or how you did that! You inspired me to try and experiment!
